The Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU DDE), originally established in 1965 as the Institute of Correspondence Course and Continuing Education, is a public institution offering a wide range of distance learning programmes. Approved by the UGC and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC, MKU DDE supports its academic delivery through 21 academic centres and 21 quasi-academic supportive units. In addition, the university operates five evening colleges and four constituent colleges to cater to diverse learners pursuing flexible education. MKU DDE offers 167 courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, PG diploma, certificate, and pre-degree levels across disciplines such as Computer Applications, Arts, Science, Business Administration, Commerce, Library Management, and Education. Its flagship programmes include MBA and BSc. The institute also provides fee exemptions for physically challenged students and has recorded a highest package of INR 10.25 LPA in 2018. With its strong academic heritage and extensive reach, MKU DDE continues to be a prominent centre for distance and continuing education.
